What an amazing year Creative Cake Bites had in 2011.  We had 61,000 page views over the year!  I couldn’t believe it when I saw the stats.  Of course, that number would not be possible if it had not been for everyone who visited and revisted our site.  Thank you!

Creative Cake Bites is making a change in 2012.  We have decided to expand our menu and thus change our name to Sweet Luna Desserts.  We will now be offering cupakes and push pop cakes in addition to our very popular cake pops along with a special events menu that can be customized for each special event.  We look forward to continuing to grow as a company, maybe even hire some help, and push our decorating skills to new heights.  We have a few weddings booked for the year and can’t wait to meet many more couples and be part of their special days.  Of course, birthday parties and baby showers have been the backbone to our success and we look forward to being a part of these special moments along with many more celebrations in 2012.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of participating in our second event for the Ronald McDonal House at Stanford.  When I started this business I knew that I wanted to be able to give back to the community in some way.  As a mother of twins born with congenital heart defects, I have first hand experience at the challenges that come with being in and out of the hospital.  As if being a new mother isn’t daunting enough, my little guys required special attention.  One of our twins had open heart surgery when he was 5 months old.  It was a very scary experience putting our baby’s life in the hands of these very very talented doctor’s and nurses but I knew through the many talks with families that had been through the same thing, that no matter what happened, everything was for a reason.  Our little Georgie came out of the operating room and I spent the days of the next week at his side and the nights at home sleeping with his twin.  I lived a short 15 minutes from the hospital and felt so blessed that I could be by his side.  Unfortunately for many other families that have children in the hospital, it is not such an easy thing to run home and take care of the other children, or take a shower, or just breath in silence for a few seconds.  The Ronald McDonald House creates a home away from home for so many families dealing with so many challenges.  They provide families not only with a place to stay for a very small fee, but they provide meals and activities as well as so much love and support from all the volunteers that devote their time to helping these families.  It seemed like a natural opportunity to help the house raise money so that it can continue to provide love and support to those who need it.    For this event we created a dessert bar made of cake pops and cake bites.  We were inspired by the very colorful invitation and wanted to make it fun.  I hope that this post inspires you to use your talents for the good of others.  Whether you like to bake or not, we all have the ability to help in our own special way.
